About The Event

The e-Government Awards is the UK's most closely watched public sector technology competition. They provide a unique benchmark of quality in eleven categories, covering current IT innovation and best practice technology implementation at all levels of government.

The e-Government National Awards 2010, held in January 2011, marked the seventh annual ceremony. Covering national, local government, the NHS and the third sector, the Awards recognise initiatives that enable UK businesses and citizens to more effectively interact with the public sector institutions that serve them.

January's event at The London Guildhall was attended by over 480 guests, representing over 83 separate public sector organisations. Guests were addressed via video link by the Prime Minister David Cameron, who congratulated all the nominees. "It's your work at central and local level that's helping make us more agile, more transparent, more open and more accountable," he said. "Tonight's awards show clearly why you have put Britain at the forefront of e-government delivery in the world. We have the technology and skills, we have the innovation and crucially we have the people."

2010 Prime Minister's Speech

Prime Minister David Cameron

The e-Government National Awards recognise some of the brilliant work done by digital specialists working across national and local government. One of our big ambitions is to make government more transparent, open and accountable and digital communications will play a massive part in that. I congratulate all the nominees and encourage all digital specialists across the public sector to follow their good example and innovation.
